SEI Endorsement MTEL Prep Tips to Answer Open ResponseOverview: There are 5 sections to the open response. Each Section has 5 parts to fill in.
#1. First, you have to choose a mentor text to analyze. (non-fiction is easier for some)
#2. In Part 1 you identify tiered vocab, analyze the text at the word/sentence and discourse levels, and set content and language objectives.
#3. You will need to design & describe 2vocab lessons w/ assessments.
#4. You will need to design & describe a reading lesson w/ an assessment.
5.You will need to design & describe a writing lesson w/ an assessment.

Each lesson requires you to justify your choices & you will need to make connections 2 lang. & content objectives

You will also be required to differentiate each lesson for various English Language Development (ELD) levels.
